Here you can find details of my campaign to run for Mayor in 2011 and those supporting me. Also my work as a Labour Councillor on Leicester City Council.
I have been involved in politics for over 40 years from the age of 15 when I joined the Labour Party. I remember well the day that the late David Taylor MP turned up to my house with my first membership card. We were the two youngest members of Ibstock branch Labour Party at that time. I joined having been inspired by hearing Harold Wilson speak at a public meeting.
That seems a long time ago and since then I have been an Ibstock Parish Councillor and a County Councillor for 12 years. A City Councillor for 27 years and Leader of the Labour Group for 11 years and Leader of the Council for 8 years.

It was a great experience, and fun, for me to work with Richard over ten years to bring his and Sheila’s unique collection of Picasso ceramics to Leicester. The exhibition still holds the record for the number of visitors!
