I was delighted to read today’s Mercury story about the success of the Cultural Quarter.
The Labour Group has suffered more than its fair share of criticism for this bold initiative. I am extremely proud that a Labour controlled council, under my leadership delivered not only a fantastic cultural offer but in doing so has regenerated a run down part of the city.
It shows what we as Labour councillors can do when we aspire to do the best for our city.
There is every reason why we should continue to be ambitious for our city. Such ambition brings success in regeneration and jobs, incredible new architecture and a feeling of pride in Leicester.
I thank everyone who helped make this happen and the Leicester Mercury for this backing of our city.
